Avon: A Vail Valley Gem That's Always Evolving

The town of Avon is an ever changing area, and that change is ever improving. Back in the '80s when "Bob the Bridge" did not exist and when railroad tracks went right through town, skier traffic would be backed up to I-70! Now, Avon boasts numerous roundabouts, the brand new Westin Resort and Spa and the new Gondola that whisks skiers to Beaver Creek Landing where you can hitch a ride to the Bachelor Gulch lift.

Wow! Things have changed!

However, it doesn’t stop there. The Town of Avon will go through yet another transformation by creating a new downtown area with shops, restaurants, homes, and a parking structure. Avon serves many purposes. From I-70, this is your main access to Beaver Creek. For others, it is a place to call home.

Avon is also popular for City Market grocery shopping, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, numerous restaurants and various stores. This area is also known as Nottingham Lake. In the summer, fish or enjoy paddle boats in the water. One can’t forget to mention that it is the location of one of the best firework displays in the Colorado Rockies during the Fourth of July festivities. During the winter, it is also a fun place for sipping on hot chocolate and skating away the day on Nottingham Lake.
