Trail Highlights: After turning off US Hwy 24 and resetting odometer, travel a very short distance, turn right following sign for FSR 702. Bear left across small earthen bridge at 0.5 miles. Turn left at a T interesection where 714 goes right. Immediately bear right to stay on 702. This is an easy graded road to the top of Ptarmigan Pass which is wide and flat. There are panoramic views here and you may also notice remnants of old buildings and saw mills in this area (they are old saw mills that operated near the turn of the century, and supplied many of the ranches and farms in this area with building supplies). There is room to turn around here and return the way you came, or you can follow the more difficult Wearyman Road - FSR 747 down to Redcliff or create a loop by connecting Wearyman Road to McCallister Gulch Road - FSR 708. See the sheets for Wearyman Road and McCallister Gulch Road for difficulty and more information on these options.
