Lionshead – A whole new world!

For many years we heard discussions, rumors, and debate about the revitalization of Lionshead. We’ve waited and waited and now it’s here! I don’t know if anyone realized what an incredible transformation Lionshead would undertake, but the changes are spectacular!

The luxurious alpine hotel, Arrabelle at Vail Square, can easily be distinguished by its flagship status in the new Lionshead. You see, many of neighboring condominium complexes have been around since the 70’s. When these owners realized that Arrabelle was to become a reality, numerous building took on huge renovations and/or facelifts. Now you see locals and visitors alike walking around in complete awe of the new looks! We now all have even more restaurants and shops to enjoy, but the renovation is not over! There are still more upcoming projects such as the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Vail which will feature 71 wholly owned condominiums, opening up even more great opportunities for owning in this beautiful ski resort.

One of Lionshead’s best known features is the Gondola. In fact Vail was the first ski resort to have a gondola in North America, although the original is now just a fond memory. It whisks away skiers and sightseers to the top of the mountain to the Eagle’s Nest where all kinds of fun awaits. Once at the top, you can tackle the mountain or enjoy dining and cocktails on the deck. Another popular stop is Adventure Ridge for children and adults. If you don’t ski or snowboard, Adventure Ridge is a great destination for people of all ages to enjoy the wonders of Vail.

There are many types of activities to enjoy in both winter and summer. Speaking of summer, the Gondola is also a popular tool to get hikers or mountain bikers to the many mountain trails. Enjoy the splendor on foot or on wheels --- either way the views will take your breath away. Speaking of views, there are two popular decks to take in the spectacular scenery. One of the decks offers telescopes to get a closer look at the many mountains, including Mount of the Holy Cross. The other deck is affectionately known as the wedding deck. Happy couples travel long distances to get married in this spectacular setting. During spring skiing, this area is the ideal site for one of the more popular picnics known as the Taste of Vail. This location also serves as an inspiring setting for sunrise service on Easter morning.

Lionshead is also a great place to enjoy the many events that Vail has to offer. You can find people enjoying the sounds of outdoor concerts, summer or winter. In the winter, happy skiers will find the outdoor restaurant decks to partake in après ski while watching others maneuver down the mountain! During the summer, these decks are also popular to sit back with a great meal, take in the sunshine and be in awe of your surroundings. You can also hear the happy shouts of those who just scored a hole in one at one of the miniature golf courses. Lionshead is often the starting point for the Fourth of July festivities and parade. The Jazz at Vail Square, the Friday Afternoon Club, and the Rocky Mountain Antique Festival are all spectacular outings for the whole family held right in the heart of Lionshead.

Lionshead is an ideal location for your vacation or owning your Vail Valley home. With views of the ski slopes, Gore Creek and town’s center it is a very inviting place to be. You can find a wide variety of properties ranging from studios to 6 bedroom condominiums! Of course, you have the magnificent homes that offer ski-in/ski-out access or just a short walk to the slopes. Chances are that you will find the property that suits your taste.
